“It’s all yours, enjoy, guys,” the middle-aged car salesman said, with a grin that was too much considering we’d just dropped around thirty-grand for a new vehicle, just before he handed us the keys.
I couldn’t fit in the Challenger barely anymore, and it certainly wouldn’t have been comfortable for driving to Michigan. Seth’s truck was almost even smaller so it was time. But Seth looked like he was about to fall over after signing over a huge check as well as the title to the car. It was a year old already but low mileage; black and very sophisticated.
Seth looked over at me hesitantly as the man dangled the keys—which weren’t really keys, but a keychain with a remote on it—in front of us. I nudged him with a smirk and nodded towards them, and hesitantly Seth swiped them in his hand and held them in his palm, white knuckling them tightly. He blew out a tense breath and turned, running his hand through his hair, laughing gently at the black SUV we now owned. He glanced back at his little truck we’d be leaving behind in the lot as a trade in that basically wasn’t worth anything. “Well, welcome to the rest of your life, man,” he muttered to himself, opening up the passenger door and helping me climb inside. It wasn’t a huge step, but my balance was a bit off lately so I appreciated it.
“Oh it’s not so bad,” I protested, before he shut the door. He grinned widely and shrugged.
“No, I guess not. At least it’s not a minivan,” he said, and I looked at him with horror. We both shuddered in unison.
“Sabrina claims we’ll be dying for one after so long,” Seth said, with a scowl as he climbed in the driver’s side. He moved to start the car by pressing a button on the dash, but paused and looked over at me with an expectant smile. “You sure you don’t want to drive?”
I held up my hands and shook my head. “Nope, this is yours, baby. Have fun.”
He snorted, rolling his eyes as he turned the engine over. The engine roared to life and he gave a half smile. “Okay, not so bad… it’s kinda unfair you get the sporty, fun car and I have this.”
Narrowing my eyes, I lightly smacked his upper arm. “It’s also unfair that I have to drive this around for nine months and you don’t, but… hey,” I said innocently, pointing at my swollen stomach.
Seth laughed, shaking his head. “Okay, fair enough. At least promise me we can christen the backseat… you know after…” he said, motioning to my belly.
I arched a brow, smirking playfully. “Uh, who said we have to wait until after?” I reached out, brushing my fingers along his sharp jawline as he blushed.
Seth dragged his piercing under his teeth and let out a quiet groan. “Ugh, honey, don’t tease, seriously,” he protested, setting a hand over the zipper of his jeans. I smirked, noticing a sizable bulge forming under his palm.
